Firefighters were dispatched to the Humane Manufacturing rubber plant in Janesville, WI after an explosion was reported at the site Friday afternoon, several local news organizations reported.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to the site after officials received word that an explosion and fire occurred in a silo at the Venture Drive site, Rock County Dispatch told television news station WMTV.

Upon arrival, crews observed that two silo tops were blown off during the blast and worked for three hours to douse flames in the containers, Janesville Fire Battalion Chief Chris Lukas said in coverage by the Wisconsin State Journal. The silos contained ground rubber at the time of the incident.

An employee was injured during the explosion and was transported to an area hospital for treatment, ABC News affiliate WKOW said.

The cause of the explosion and fire are under investigation by local authorities.

Humane Manufacturing, part of The Surface Company, is a supplier of rubber flooring solutions for the fitness, equine, diary, industrial, home and garage, and zoo and pet markets, according to information on the firm’s website.
